Ode to Joy: Beethoven Symphony Number 9

Be Part of B9

Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is thrilled to announce the January 19, 2025 performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in collaboration with Chicago Master Singers, Lux Cantorum Chicago, and chorus master John Hughes.

The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra seeks to fulfill its greatest mission to provide inspiration and hope through music in this special, large-scale production of Beethoven’s Symphony Number 9. This performance coincides with the commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, making it even all the more special.

"Dr. King’s message and his call for “radiant stars of love and brotherhood” can be experienced through Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125. Beethoven’s only vocal symphony is a statement of yearning for freedom, and celebrates ”All people become brothers, Where thy gentle wing abides.“ Dr. Jasmin Bey Cowin.

Please join us at 4pm on January 19th, 2025 at the James Lumber Performing Arts Center in Grayslake, Illinois, for an epic performance that demands an epic space.

Tickets are available for purchase now for our complete 2024-2025 season or just this event.
