The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is a member-funded and donor-supported community orchestra devoted to performing high quality orchestral repertoire on the North Shore.
Our full-size orchestra, consisting of dedicated volunteer musicians under the guidance of a professional Music Director, is formed of members of the local community, for the benefit of the local community.
In addition to our orchestral concert series at the Gorton Community Center, we also:
- offer scholarship programs for young musicians,
- provide chamber performances at senior centers and other community venues,
- partner actively with other local musical groups who share our belief that everyone benefits from playing and hearing the wonders of classical music.
During the 2009-2010 season and again in the 2011-2012 season the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra played a collaborative concert with the Lake Forest High School Orchestras. The partnership that the LFCO has formed with the Lake Forest High School music programs is a testament to our commitment to creating community with music.
Veteran Tickets Program
For the past year, the LFCO has participated in VetTix.org, an organization that pairs current and former members of the military services with donated tickets.
The LFCO was particularly grateful to receive this note from a veteran, following its May 2016 concert: “This is the second Lake Forest Civic Orchestra event that my family and I have had the opportunity to attend, and we are grateful for this and all of the experiences made possible by VetTix. Your organization not only allows us to grow culturally by making possible something this is usually out of the financial real of an E-6 with a family of five, but it also allows us to spend much needed time together. Once again, thank you.”
